The Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 - A review
Greetings there! It's been a while since I've done a review here. Today we are going to talk about the movie 'The Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3' from the beloved Marvel Studios.
Before anything, let's take a look at the premise. So, in this movie we see the Guardians go on a mission to save one of their member's life and battle a new psychopathic evil. The events here take place after the Thanos situation that probably a lot of you know about from the Avengers movies. However, I can say that if you haven't watched those (although I recommend you go watch them) it's not that big of a problem because this film kind of does its own thing and isn't very influenced by the previous events outside of The Guardians of the Galaxy Saga.
I actually got the change to see this one in a cinematograph in 3D and to be honest I think it was a whole other experience. Unfortunately, because I've watched the other two films a while back, I didn't really remember that much information from those, so I can't make a comparison between this one and the others.
Now, when it comes to the story, I think that the events were happening pretty fast and that we got into the beef very quickly, but that's not necessary a bad thing. I personally enjoy a little more slow developing plots in action or SF movies, to really feel the danger and the tension, yet I think as soon as I got used to the pacing in this one, it was okay. I absolutely loved the emotional themes here and the scenes about Rocket, BRUH, they hit so hard that I almost started crying in the theater. Awesome jokes, although, from what I remember, they weren't that many in this film probably because of the serious themes. Still, I laughed the shit out of me at some of them. And, at the end, it feels like a very completed story and it gave me that sad and nostalgic feeling that everything has been finished. My only critique was that some characters were introduced a bit random and felt a bit like caricatures. Also, the plot wasn't really that complex and it was pretty predictable. Even so, it didn't stop me to have a great time watching this movie.
I have to say that the visuals, were EXCELLENT. Absolutely stunting, loved them! The fight scenes were, as well, dope. Besides, I enjoyed the music a lot! It has a very important role in the story, because every movie resembles a tape, which I find very interesting and unique. Nevertheless, I think the music was a bit too much sometimes. Like there were too many songs coming right after another.
However, overall, it's a fun film that I really recommend you to go watch in a theater. 'The Guardians of the Galaxy' will forever remain one of my favorite movie series from MCU. I hope this was the last movie in the saga and that Marvel isn't going to make the stupid decision to stretch the story. That would be disappointing!
